The Sungei Ujong & Negri Sembilan Display led by Andrew Norris and Peter Hooper,, March 21 2009

The first rate display led by Andrew and Peter, at Spinks, on the 21st March, was an incredible tour de force of excellence. It was followed by frames from Peter Cockburn, Len Stanway, JoeRobertson, Bill Pain, Rob Holley, Gaden Robinson, and Peter Hooper again! I put in some shots of a map of Sungei Ujong from1877. A key feature of the displays was the way they had been put together and built using information from several members of the group. The advances in knowledge of SU and NS came from the dedication of the two leading presenters, and the help and information they had had over several years from their fellow members. Andrew said that he largely followed Dr.Wood, except where he had shown him to be misinformed. There was a magnificent run of stamps, overprints of course! Covers which are a bit rarer than hens teeth, the State Issue, and some fine forgeries. Peter showed panes, positioning the varieties, fine pages of varieties with raised stops, green syrcharges, FMS covers used in NS, a previously unknown Survey Dept. Essay on card, De La Rue proof items, and Postal Stationery [is the K size known used?]. Nick Hackney.
