The Malaya Study Group exists for collectors of the stamps, postal stationery and postal history of the states of Peninsular Malaysia which until 1963 formed the Federation of Malaya, including the Straits Settlements of Malacca, Penang and Singapore, the Federated Malay States, Negri Sembilan and Sungei Ujong, Pahang, Perak and Selangor and the Unfederated States, Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Trengganu.The Society has a JOURNAL, "The Malayan Philatelist" and a NEWSLETTER supplied free to members, EXCHANGE PACKETS, AUCTIONS and has produced a number of significant PUBLICATIONS on the stamps and postal history of the area.

Golden Jubilee Programme in Australia 2009 

Members of the Malaya Study Group in Australia have a special programme to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Group.

The events will take place to coincide with the

Melbourne Stamp Show 09
July 23-26. This is a "full" (i.e. all classes) National Exhibition.


* MSG Celebration Dinner, Friday July 24th.

* Malaya Study Group Meeting, Saturday afternoon
from 1.30-3.30pm on Saturday July 25th in Meeting Room 1 at the Exhibition

We are also inviting members of the Sarawak Specialists Society to attend the Meeting.


* Presentation of Special Prize for best entry from our
The presentation for the best Malayan area entry will be a large Selangor pewter plate.
The Award presentation will be made at the Awards Dinner,
Saturday night which many MSG members will be attending.

Melbourne Stampshow 09 Australian National Philatelic Exhibition

will be held at the Function Centre,

Melbourne Park (National Tennis Centre), Batman Avenue, Melbourne,

from Thursday, 23 to Sunday, 26 July 2009

(note this is a change from the originally published dates of 15 - 19 April).

The venue, now very familiar to Melbourne's philatelic community

is part of the Melbourne Parks Sports Precinct

with excellent parking facilities plus a tram route passing the door

and Richmond Railway station all within easy walking distance.
