This stamp is the highest catalogued mint stamp in SG catalogues. CW39b in Bridger & Kay calls it "Steel blue" and says it is a "very distinct colour".

Over time I have collected one or two what I think may be "blue" used examples of the 15c on ordinary paper postmarked after the 08.07.47 issue date given in published sources and before the 27.11.47 issue date given for the blue on chalk surfaced paper.

Doubtlessly there are BMA Malaya experts within the group who have written up their copies of the 15c. I would think it a great service to ordinary collectors of the series if one, (or more), of them was prepared to upload their take on the two blues. I know that there will be colour reproduction issues, but side by side would, to my mind, certainly be a "starter for ten" for many.

This stamp has now been the subject of a fairly extended topic on Stampboards.
