Sadly my stuffed lert is also a left hand one, but of course you could use it back to front and twist its head round, or is that not playing the game?
Gil

By the way, has anyone glimpsed the lesser spotted lert of Bexley?

I think sniping is perfectly alright so long it's available to anyone who wish to use it.

In ebay, you could get lucky with sniping at much lower than you would wish to pay. I can't understand bidders who have to revise their high bids each time just so to outbid a winning bid, hence many resort to sniping.

I do not use "snipe" but do own a cheap radio controlled clock which is accurate to the second with eBay time. This allows me to bid with 5 seconds to go. It also allows me to see the bidding by using "refresh" up to about 30 seconds to go.

Perhaps a radio controlled clock would be a good Christmas present for an eBayer.

I have noticed what I think a rather strange phenomonen twice recently on eBay. That of the same person achieving two bids at exactly the same second 5 seconds before closure. I believe this must be using snipe or something similar. The strange thing, and pleasing at least to me, is that both times the person lost by one step above their FIRST bid, when one would have expected if a second bid had been entered that would be at least a step higher than the first.

Perhaps like in real life sniping you only really get one chance!
